Thanks to Kottke I learned about uni-contextuality today. After processing this information throughout the day I’m thinking that this concept explains a few things I’ve been doing.

For example for years I’ve been staying away from pretty much all news, large social media platform, work and career-related sites, as well as LLMs.

The common thread is these systems have an homogenizing effect. Everything becomes the same, and the negative gets amplified more than the positive. Avoiding those is for me, I think, a desire to keep closer to the local context, to keep my interests within smaller bounds, each with a different context.
