Despite getting confirmation from a nurse a while back that I could still donate blood, I’d just been sitting on it.
But tonight I went to Canadian Blood Services. The nurse went over my medications. We talked about my diagnosis. I was nervous. But I asked.
MS is an autoimmune disorder. Does it make sense to give my blood to somebody else when it’s playing a role in attacking me?
She explained how blood is separated and filtered. I didn’t know this. She eased my worries.
Twenty minutes later I went home after making a blood donation, feeling good.
